How I Launched My Freelance Services on Upwork and Fiverr in 7 Days

Freelancing has opened up a whole new world of income opportunities — but getting started can feel overwhelming. In this post, I’m sharing exactly how I launched my services on Upwork and Fiverr in just 7 days, from scratch. No prior gigs, no reviews — just strategy, consistency, and a phone.

Whether you're a student, content creator, or 9–5 worker looking to earn online, you’ll find real steps here to start your own journey.

DAY 1–2: ACCOUNT SETUP & NICHE CLARITY

The first step was getting clear on what services I could offer. I focused on:

- Prompt Engineering (writing custom ChatGPT prompts)

- Ghostwriting (blog posts, ebooks, captions)

- Content Strategy (for creators and business owners)

Then I opened accounts on:

- Upwork (https://www.upwork.com)

- Fiverr (https://www.fiverr.com)

I used a professional name, photo, and title, and made sure my bio clearly communicated what I offer.

DAY 3: GIG CREATION & SETUP

I created my first gig titled:

“Write powerful ChatGPT prompts for your business or content”

I added:

- A clear description

- Pricing tiers

- Client requirements

- A custom-designed banner (made in Canva)

DAY 4–5: PROFILE OPTIMIZATION

To stand out, I added:

- Education history

- Work samples (screenshots of prompt packs)

- A project summary that explained what makes my work unique

- Keywords like “ChatGPT”, “Prompt Engineering”, and “Custom AI Content”

On Fiverr, I also selected tags like:

- ChatGPT

- AI Writing

- Creative Writing

- Custom Prompts

DAY 6: PAYMENT PLATFORM SETUP

This step is key if you’re in Nigeria.

I set up:

- Payoneer (connected to both Fiverr and Upwork)

- Grey.co as a backup (gives you a free USD account)

This ensures I can receive dollars and withdraw to my local bank easily.

DAY 7: READY TO START BIDDING & GETTING CLIENTS

Once everything was live, I began:

- Applying to jobs on Upwork (using Connects)

- Sharing my Fiverr gig link on Instagram and WhatsApp

- Preparing content to attract clients (carousel, blog, video)

Now I’m officially open for business — and you can do the same!

FINAL THOUGHTS

You don’t need perfection to start — you just need to start with what you have. I did all this using my phone, Canva, and free tools.
